Kanpetlet Township in Chin State was hit by two airstrikes from fighter jets on the morning of April 1. Local residents reported hearing the jets around 10 a.m., followed by successive bombings.

“Around 10 a.m., the jets passed overhead and dropped bombs. There were two strikes, but since the location is far from us, we can't assess the damage,” a resident told The Mindat Post.

Efforts to contact the Chin Defense Force for more information have been unsuccessful at this time.

What makes this even more poignant is that the military junta recently declared a national seven-day mourning period to honor the victims of the catastrophic earthquake that claimed thousands of lives. Despite this, airstrikes continue unabated, casting a shadow over the solemn observance.
