The Myanmar Revolution, also known as the Spring Revolution, began after the military coup on February 1, 2021, when the army overthrew the elected government led by Aung San Suu Kyi. Millions of citizens launched peaceful protests and the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) to reject military rule. When peaceful resistance was met with violence, many joined the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) under the National Unity Government (NUG) to fight for democracy. Today, Myanmar faces ongoing conflict, displacement, and humanitarian crises, but the people continue to show courage and unity in their struggle for freedom, justice, and a democratic future.
